Recently the consumption of duplex stainless steels is in full swing due to worldwide rapid development of desalination plants, offshore oil, gas, paper, pulp, sugar, alcohol and bleaching industries, majorly West Indies, Brazil, Europe and the Arabian Gulf countries are the robust consumer for duplex grades. These industries utilize different stainless steel grades mostly austenitic stainless steels (like 316L, 317L, 254SMO, 904L), but due to the poor performance of 316L, 317L in a corrosive environment and also nickel cost volatility that breaching the backbone of austenitic manufacturers and end users. In recent years duplex stainless steels are emerging as valuable grades for all these industries due to high strength and better corrosion resistance in many aggressive environments.
