Description

Sustained release (SR) profiles from tablets can be achieved using various approaches and monolithic matrix system is one of them. However, drug solubility is one of the various considerations in the development of SR matrix tablets. The difficulty in retarding the drug release from SR matrix tablets is intensified with the use of extremely water soluble drugs. Therefore, the manuscript explain the development of SR matrix tablets containing an extremely water soluble model drug using high viscosity HPMC as the release retarding polymer. This approach may provide researchers with novel ideas in the development of SR release matrix tablets.
