Among other services, it publishes journalism on a daily basis, primarily relating to social justice and progressive politics. The site hosts babble, a politically-oriented Internet forum, the rabble podcast network (RPN) and the rabble reads book lounge. rabble.ca was launched in April 2001 by a group of media activists including Mark Surman, Judy MacDonald and journalist Judy Rebick, in cooperation with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
