This book deals with the theory of phase transitions in disordered magnetic systems in the presence of random fields. By considering the mean-field theory, it discuss the effects of continuous-field probability distributions in the phase diagrams of ferromagnetic systems and spin glasses. In some cases, tricritical points appear in these systems. Some of the presented results can be qualitatively applied to real systems.
Nuno Crokidakis obtained his Master degree in Physics at the Brazilian Center for Physics Research, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2007. The main focus of his research is phase transitions in magnetic systems, complex networks and social systems. At present he is finishing his PhD thesis at Fluminense Federal University, Brazil.
